Blow hole casting defect

    As the mould cavity is filled with atmospheric air, when the molten metal is poured into mould cavity, the atmospheric air is trapped into the molten metal which tends formation of small bubble hole inside the molten metal.

    This blow hole reduces the strength of the casting. To avoid this defect, all the air inside the mould cavity must be evacuated before pouring the molten metal.
